A draft plan for a new child care center proposed for 5305 Perrine Road with space to fit 148 children, 23 staff members, a 38-spot parking lot, dumpster area, dentention basin and fenced outdoor play area.
A new child care center has been proposed for a property at 5305 Perrine Road (lined in yellow) that would demolish existing buildings and parking lot to rebuild a new facility.

A proposed child care facility at 5305 Perrine Road may receive a recommendation to City Council by the Planning Commission at the latter's meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall.
A decision on this proposal was postponed at the last meeting of the Planning Commission.
The facility would be located on the west side of Perrine and is the former site of a church, Wesley Chapel.
The proposed facility would be more than 11,000 square feet and could accommodate 148 children with 23 staff members. The property contains two vacant buildings and a 32-space parking lot with two driveways on Perrine.
Under the proposal, the current buildings and parking lot would be razed, and a new building would be constructed on the northern half of the site, with a 38-space parking lot located to the south of it and a stormwater detention basin south of the parking lot.
A single driveway would run off of Perrine Road. A fenced outdoor play area would be built north of the building.
A few other issues were discussed at the last Planning Commission meeting, including the need for a Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy permit, stormwater management around the building and parking lot, pedestrian circulation to the public sidewalk along Perrine, paving of the emergency vehicle turnaround, an additional barrier-free parking space, and screening (landscaping) on all four sides of the property.
A plan addressing some of these concerns was submitted after the deadline, so it was not included in the packet for the last meeting, which is why the commission voted to postpone its decision until its June 13 meeting.
A conditional use permit initiated by DGR Properties LLC to permit the construction of a four-unit, multiple-family dwelling at 1400 Bayliss Street will be withdrawn. The Planning Commission will make no action on this item.
